Hiring the Hut

Note: The scout hut rebuild is now
finished, complete with working kitchen

Community groups and organisations may hire the hall of our Scout Hut on Flamsteed Road(click for map) when it is not in use by our Scout Group by sending an email to the executive committee . The building is the property of the 28th Cambridge Scout Group and the primary function of the building is to support the aims of the Scout Movement. Room hire helps to contribute to our running costs. It is managed by the Executive Committtee.

Hiring the Hall or Hut

Please email our Executive Committee:

Location

Our hut is at the end of Flamsteed Road, on the right, postcode CB1 3QU. Flamsteed road is the first road on the right off Rustat Road, which is off Cherry Hinton Road near Hills Road Bridge and Cambridge Leisure Park. Click for a Google Map.

Accessibility

Our hut is accessible to all, regardless of ability, gender, sexual preference, race, religion or age. There is a ramp for wheelchair access at the front of the building and a disabled toilet. The toilets are for all and are not age or gender assigned. There are no steps or raised thresholds between areas in the building. Currently the fire escape has a raised threshold and a step down but we are looking into how to correct this. Accoustically the building has a lot of refective surfaces which could give problems for hearing impaired but we are also looking into how to correct this too.

Conditions of Hire

A copy of our Standard Conditions for Use and our Hire Agreement can be downloaded by following the links.

Fire

There is a fire alarm. Make yourself aware of the fire exits at either end of the building and the fire extinguishers. The fire collection point is by the front gate. There is a cage of flammable material at the rear of the site so do not collect there. As the Stores may contain flammable and potentially dangerous materials the building should be evacuated in the event of a fire.

Utilities

Be aware of the utility access points. The electricity consumer unit is in the office; the water stopcock in the cleaning cupboard. Heating is very effective and supplied by warm air vents in the main hall, controlled in the office.

Chairs and tables are available, as are crash mats, on arrangement with the Exec.
