Types of badges

There are three main types of badges:

How can Activity Badges be attempted?

Individually

A Cub Scout can work on Activity Badges alone. An individual Cub Scout can complete an Activity Badge outside of the Pack, at home doing the scientist badge like Marcus did or the chef like Sam, Benji and others have done, artist, animal carer or information technology badge say, or on a family holiday such as kayaking or sailing (water activities), nature watcher or swimming. Check out the www.scouts.org.uk website for details on what tasks are required against a list of all of the activity badges.

As a Pack

Another way is for the whole Pack working on Activity Badges together - as a follow up to one of the Programme Zones. Typically badges take a number of meetings to complete, and not everyone who takes part will necessarily reach the standard to get a badge (although most should be able to). The challenge badges are typically worked on as a pack.

As a District

Some Districts (ours is Cambridge, denoted by the blue shield on our left shoulder) organise special activity days when Activity Badges are on offer to all Cub Scouts in the District, for example, the Scientist or Chef badge.
