Types of badges

There are three main types of badges:

activity badges that are awarded after a beaver carries out certain tasks or reaches certain levels of achievement, some with varying stages
challenge awards that are broader in their requirements and take longer as a result
award badges are awarded at various stages of a beaver's life with the colony

How can Activity Badges be attempted?

Individually

A Beaver can work on Activity Badges alone. An individual Beaver can complete an Activity Badge outside of the colony, at home doing the animal friend badge or the hobbies badge or one of the staged badges such information technology, swimmer or the musicians badge say. Check out the www.scoutbase.org.uk website for details on what tasks are required against a list of all of the activity badges.

As a Colony

Usually badges are attempted in the colony, such as the Creative badge.
